Gas Power Calculator - Understanding the advantage.

Why consider propane gas?

Economics: Save 40% and improve your bottom line. A gallon of propane generally costs 40-60% less than a gallon of gasoline or diesel. Switching to propane can save fleets thousands of dollars annually over traditional diesel fleets.

Emissions: 70% less smog lets you breathe easier. Propane produces less harmful greenhouse gas emissions than gasoline and diesel engines. Propane shrinks your environmental footprint with 70 percent fewer smog-producing hydrocarbons, 50 percent less carbon monoxide, 20 percent less nitrogen oxide, and 12 percent less carbon dioxide.

Safety: Propane’s low working pressure, narrow flammability range, higher ignition temperature and rigorous testing make it a safe alternative fuel. Propane has a limited flammability range. Propane tanks have a working pressure of 312 psi. Propane tanks are 20 times more puncture resistant than gasoline or diesel tanks and are tested at up to four times their normal operating pressure.

Widespread, Low-Cost Infrastructure: Easily available across North America.

Why consider natural gas?

The amount of CO2 produced when a fuel is burned is a function of the carbon content of the fuel. The heat content, or the amount of energy produced when a fuel is burned, is mainly determined by the fuel's carbon (C) and hydrogen (H) content. Heat is produced when C and H combine with oxygen (O) during combustion. Natural gas is primarily methane (CH4), which has a higher energy content relative to other fuels, and thus, it has a relatively lower CO2-to-energy content. In some fuels, water and various elements, such as sulphur and noncombustible elements, reduce their heating values and increase their CO2-to-heat contents.

Cost Effective:
Proven, safe and reliable technology for vehicles, equipment and fuel are all readily available
Thousands of vehicles and on the road already on the market
Eliminates the need for all diesel exhaust treatment systems, 20%-25% GHG reduction
Almost no particulates
Substantial reduction in VOCs, SO2 and NOx-
No smell or smoke and quieter than diesel

Green Power

Gaseous fuel can provide a lower cost and emissions profile compared with diesel as a fuel source.
